§ 8.08.050. License—Fee—Bond.

  • A.

    It shall be unlawful for any person, to collect or haul garbage or refuse for hire from any point in the city, as scavengers or otherwise, without having first obtained a license issued by the city. The license shall be granted only upon proper application to the city council, payment of a non-refundable license fee of three hundred dollars per year, payable in advance, and giving bond guaranteeing faithful and diligent performance pursuant to all regulations or rules established by the city and any other governmental body, with at least two good and sufficient individual sureties, or a corporate surety to be approved by the city council, which bond shall be in the penal sum of five thousand dollars.

    B.

    No more than six such licenses or permits shall be issued and in effect at any one time. No license shall be issued until the applicant has furnished proof to the city council of conformance or ability to conform with the requirements set out in this chapter.

    C.

    Only six such licenses shall be issued in each calendar year.
