§ 2.10.010. Composition and general powers.

The city council shall consist of eight alders, with two being alternately elected from each of the four wards as designated in Chapter 1.08 of this code, and otherwise in conformity with this code and state laws governing elections in cities of less than five hundred thousand, and who shall have such powers as are granted by Chapter 24 of the Illinois Revised Statutes as amended. Each alder so elected shall, in the case of election to a full term, serve for four years, or until a successor shall have been elected and qualified.
