§ 13.16.230. Connection to public sewer mandated when.

At such time as a public sewer becomes available to a property served by a private
sewage disposal system, as provided in Section 13.16.180, a direct connection shall be made to the public sewer in compliance with this chapter,
and any septic tanks, cesspools and similar private sewage disposal facilities shall
be abandoned and filled with suitable material; provided, however, that in the event
compliance with this section causes economic hardship to said owner, the owner may
apply to the city council for exemption from this section. An application for exemption
shall state in detail the circumstances which are claimed to cause such economic hardship.
Any exemptions shall only be granted to residential users, and shall not apply to
commercial and industrial users.
